Material
192 stainless steel, material no. 1.4301 / UNS S30400

StepLess® low profile clamps are manufactured with series 192, 1-fold and 3-fold tolerance balancing elements. The material sizes used in the standard series are determined by taking into account the radial force required, the nature of application and the need to seal and/or maintain grip under certain conditions and environmental exposure. During the selection of the clamp diameter, the matching on which the clamp will be mounted to ensure an effective clamping performance
the dimensions of the components must be determined correctly. In calculating the appropriate clamp diameter, the durometer hardness of the soft material and the desired compression are important factors.

Stretching Hooks
Tensioning hooks are special components used to tighten the StepLess® low profile clamp series 192. An Oetiker clamping tool locks on both clamping components and tool movement reduces the clamp diameter until the inner gap of the tightening hook on the overlapping tape completely snaps into the load holding hook.

Tolerance Balancing
Tolerance balancing folds are activated when the compressed diameter of the application is greater than the nominal diameter of the clamp. When the resistance applied to the clamp exceeds the strength of the generated twists, elongation occurs to ensure successful locking of the tensioning and retention hooks. The flexibility of the twists has the potential to adapt to temperature changes or diameter changes due to vibration effects. As a rule, the nominal diameter of the StepLess® low profile clamp series 192 should be selected, ensuring the best hose or sealing compression with a minimum mounting diameter. In maximum mounting installation, the bends should be able to maintain the lock grip feature while being able to absorb the diameter, taking into account the maximum allowed pincer force and the amount of length that the bends can withstand. Factors such as the capacity of the tolerance balancing element, the properties of the joined materials, and dimensional tolerance all directly affect the overall functionality of the link.

Assembly Proposals
These clamps can be mounted with manual pliers specially developed for this clamp structure, or alternatively with pneumatic pliers in high volume installations. To close a clamp, the pliers jaws must be locked into both tensioning hooks. The simultaneous movement of the two tensioning hooks by starting the pneumatic tool or tightening the manual pliers reduces the diameter of the StepLess® low profile clamp 192 until the effective closed diameter is achieved.
The geometry of the StepLess® low profile clamp 192 is such that when this position is reached, the inner contour of the tensioner hook at the overlapping end of the clamp is automatically locked into the load holder hook. The resulting surface pressure depends on the selection criteria, especially the diameter and materials of the clamped parts. Sealing performance is achieved by the stabilizing force of the compressed elastic material coupled with the stress caused by the tolerance balancing elements.
